Mr Vogel comes to SCORE with over 46 years of experience as an Engineering Consultant with an emphasis in technical, project, and business operations management. He has extensive experience in the acquisition and successful execution of multi-discipline engineering contracts as well as well as running a profitable and growing business.
Between 2013 and 2015, Mr. Vogel was the Vice President of Projects for AMEC Power and Process America (AMEC PPA) Nuclear Group, a $36M engineering consulting company (wholly owned by AMEC, a $10B Consulting Company) providing a full complement of engineering and project management related services to the North American Nuclear marketplace. Mr. Vogel retired from AMEC in June of 2015.
Between October 1999 and November 2013, Mr. Vogel was the Vice President of Projects, and part of the three man executive leadership team for Automated Engineering Services (AES). In 1999, AES was a 20 man engineering consulting company that the executive team was able to grow into a moderately sized consulting company of over 215 by 2013, when the assets of the company were purchased by AMEC, PPA.
Between 1975 and 1999, Mr. Vogel worked for Nutech Engineers, Pacific Nuclear, Vectra, and Duke Engineering & Services, all engineering consulting companies resulting from mergers and acquisitions of the original company Nutech, which he joined in 1975. Holding a variety of positions, with progressively increasing responsibilities, he was ultimately named President of one of the intervening companies , the Pacific Nuclear Engineering Group. His involvement in the sale of AES to AMEC coupled with the numerous transitions through the various mergers and acquisitions, has provided Mr. Vogel significant business management experience.
Mr. Vogel has a Mechanical Engineering bachelors degree from UCLA and a masters degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics (specialty in structural mechanics) from Stanford University. He has also completed the Stanford executive accounting seminar for non-financial personnel. He is a registered Professional Engineer in several states and is currently certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
